Real Estate Transfer Taxes (RETT)

Real Estate Transfer Tax (RETT) is 1% of the purchase price and is due with the transaction or transfer of any real estate located within the Town limits. The purchaser is responsible for the tax, which is due and payable at the time of transfer.

To Pay a Real Estate Transfer Tax:

Submission Instructions:

One original and one duplicate of the above application form must be completed by the buyer and accompanied by the following to be processed:

  • Copy of deed or other transfer document
  • Check for 1% of property sale price payable to TOSV for Paid Real Estate Transfer Tax, OR
  • Check for $25.00 payable to TOSV for exempt Real Estate Transfer Tax. Please see our Real Estate Transfer Tax Exemption form (PDF) to view qualifications for exemption.

A copy of the completed form will be returned to you, which must be filed with the Pitkin County Clerk & Recorder for your official property records.

Exemptions from the Real Estate Transfer Tax:

A limited number of exemptions are permitted for RETT, which can be found in Section 4-95 of our Municipal Code.

Return 2 copies of your completed application along with the supporting documents and filing fee to the Town of Snowmass Village

A copy of the completed form will be returned to you, which must be filed with the Pitkin County Clerk & Recorder for your official property records.
