[ARCHIVED] Snowmass Village Tourism Director Susan Hamley Resigns

Hamley and Forrest

Snowmass Village, Colo. –Today, the Town of Snowmass Village announced the resignation of Snowmass Tourism Director Susan Hamley, effective April 15, 2013.

Hamley joined Town staff as the Marketing Director in 2003 and assumed the Snowmass Tourism Director role in 2009. During her decade-long tenure, Hamley was instrumental in growing tourism for Snowmass Village, and maturing the department from a staff of two and Board of five to today’s staff of 13 and Board of nine.

“During Susan’s tenure, the Snowmass Tourism department has been increasingly successful in outpacing competing jurisdictions,” said Russ Forrest, Snowmass Village town manager. “The team’s performance is due in great part to her leadership.”

Under Hamley’s direction, the Marketing and Tourism department has worked successfully with diverse partners to expand the amenities, programs, events and attractions that draw visitors to Snowmass. An upward trajectory in sales tax revenue, occupancy, and group sales has been realized through the expansion of special events, evolution of the group sales program, and robust seasonal marketing and public relations efforts.

“Susan’s dedication to her job and her community was exemplary,” said Robert Sinko, chair of the Snowmass Marketing and Tourism Board. “She was tireless in her efforts to position Snowmass a state-of-the-art resort community.”

The Town will begin the process of filling the Tourism Director position to be vacated by Hamley on April 15, 2013 with an official job posting to be announced.

“We thank Susan for her 10 years of hard work and dedication to the Town of Snowmass Village, and wish her well in her future endeavors,” said Bill Boineau, Snowmass Village mayor. “She leaves a great legacy in our community.”
