With the help of the Colorado Energy Office and the Charge Ahead Colorado grant program, the Town has successfully finished installing three new EV charging stations. One charger was placed in Lot 3 of the Village Lots, one was installed at the TOSV Housing Office, and the third station was installed at the Town Park day skier parking lot. Each station is a level two charger, and has two separate power chords to charge two Electric Vehicles at a time. Download the chargepoint app by following the link below to find the exact charger locations and costs to charge up your EV.
The total project and installation costs, of approximately $43,000, were over 50% supported by outside grant funds. In total, the Town received over $27,000 in grant funds to support the project. With this funding support, adding EV charging station options in Snowmass Village just made sense, according to the project manager and Town Transit Supervisor, Sam Guarino. "Over the past year, the existing EV stations that are currently in Town Park and the Village Lots have seen considerable uptick in usage. These 3 additional stations are expected to meet the current demands, as well as provide for future use in the Town's housing complexes and fleet."
The EV's are also intended to help fuel switching easier for the community, and help the Town meet our ongoing environmental and carbon emission reduction goals. The Town also has future plans to install additional EV stations in strategic locations throughout Town. "This is a great start, and we're delighted to bring this alternative fuel infrastructure to the community," added Sam.
