The Town of Snowmass Village ensures that existing infrastructure is adequately maintained and that the construction of future infrastructure is completed with minimal impacts on the community. The Town understands the current condition of its infrastructure and performs maintenance and construction accordingly.
The Town will perform several infrastructure projects throughout the 2023 construction season. These projects include the Brush Creek Culvert Project, Town Park Renovation Project, and several others, such as fiber optic cable network installation, trail improvements (hard & soft surface, multimodal), and paving projects. All projects are designed to improve safety and connectivity throughout the Village and to address aging infrastructure.
The Brush Creek Culvert Project will involve the replacement and reconstruction of the culvert beneath Brush Creek Road immediately downhill from the intersection with Owl Creek Road. The reconstruction of this culvert will result in the closure of Brush Creek Road from the Blue Roof Condos to the intersection with Owl Creek Road from approximately May 15, 2023, to November 1, 2023. As part of this project, the Town will also partner with utility companies to replace aging infrastructure such as the gas, electric, water, and sewer lines. Design and construction plans are in the final stages of development. Owl Creek Road will be the designated detour route. The anticipated detour time will be approximately 5 minutes.
Prior to the start of the culver reconstruction, Black Hills Energy will be performing gas line construction work along Owl Creek Road from Brush Creek Road to Meadow Ranch Road from April 1 to approximately May 20. Periodic single-lane closures will occur as part of this project.
Planned improvements to Town Park include the development of the multi-purpose activity fields north of the rodeo arena, the parking lot to the south of the rodeo arena, a filtration pond to protect the water quality, the reorientation of the rodeo grounds, and the installation of a bleacher structure which will provide the framework necessary for the Parks & Trails maintenance facility. Construction is planned to begin after the final Snowmass Western Heritage Association's (SWHA) rodeo in 2023 and conclude in the spring of 2024 before the next rodeo season.
