The Snowmass Village Town Council appointed Clint Kinney as Town Manager. He will start on September 15, 2014.
By approving Resolution 26, Series of 2014 the Council approved an employment contract with Kinney at the June 25 special meeting by a vote of four in favor, and zero opposed (Councilman Jacobson was not in attendance).
“Clint will bring new perspective to the Town and can help lead us through some the issues we face in a resort community,” said Snowmass Village Mayor Bill Boineau. “We’re confident that his leadership style combined with his education and experience will help steer us on a strategic path forward.”
Kinney has served as the City Manager of Fruita, Colo. since 2002. During his tenure he has overseen tremendous economic and population growth, and honed a management style that values open, responsive, and citizen oriented government.
Notable accomplishments include the development of the Greenway Business Park, construction of public facilities including a community recreation center, wastewater treatment plant, more than $65 million in capital improvement projects, and significant parks and trail improvements that drove creative marketing efforts to establish Fruita as a premier recreation destination.
“I’m thrilled to accept the position with the Town of Snowmass Village and feel that I’m a great fit for this community,” Kinney said. “This will be an excellent opportunity to put my training and experience in city management to help the Snowmass Village Town Council implement its goals and objectives.”
Prior to his tenure with the City of Fruita, Kinney served as Assistant to the City Manager in Durango, Colo. where he was responsible for a wide variety of management duties for a city of 14,000 people.
Gary Suiter will continue to serve as Interim Town Manager until Kinney’s start date on September 15th.
