[ARCHIVED] Council solicits feedback on Eight Applicants Vying for Vacant Seat

December 2, 2014—Snowmass Village, CO—The Snowmass Village Town Council is seeking public feedback as they aim to fill the fifth council seat. Council completed candidate interviews with eight citizens during the regular Town Council meeting December 1st.

Over the last few weeks, the town led an open application process to seek qualified candidates to fill the council vacancy created when Markey Butler left her Council seat to assume the Mayor position she was elected to in early November.

Now, Council looks to the community to help them narrow the pool as they prepare to make a decision through a public vote on December 8th.

“Last night we learned a great deal about the skill sets that each qualified candidate brings to the table,” said Snowmass Village Mayor Markey Butler. “Now, we’re calling on the community to help us identify which candidate is not only a great fit for our Council team, but the best representative of the community at large.”

Learn more about the candidates by watching the December 1st council meeting online at www.tosv.com/watchlive. Or, view submitted applications in the Council packet available at tosv.com, by selecting “Agendas, Minutes, and Packets.”

Active candidates include:

  • Thomas Goode
  • Doug Throm
  • James Knowlton
  • Darryl Grob
  • Arnie Mordkin
  • Reid Haughery
  • Jerry Pazar
  • Alyssa Shenk

“We are so pleased to see how many qualified Snowmass citizens are looking to serve their community and we thank everyone who applied,” said Butler. “We have a tough decision to make.”

Submit your feedback by email at council@tosv.com before the special Town Council meeting December 8th, during which the Council is expected to vote on an appointment.
