Snowmass Village, Colo. – August 6, 2015 – A Petition to Recall Councilman Chris Jacobson was submitted to the Town of Snowmass Village on Monday. The Petition contained 323 signatures, and the Town Clerk has now verified 256 as being qualified electors. The Clerk determined the Petition appears to be sufficient as the number of signatures required to call a recall election is 242 signatures.
Starting on Friday, August 7, qualified electors of the Town may submit written protests to the sufficiency of the Petition, under oath, to the Town Clerk until the end of the protest period at 4:00 p.m. on August 21. After all protests are heard and determined, the final sufficiency of the Petition will be determined and a recall election date will be set.
In the event a recall election is called, voters will also be asked to vote for a successor - should recall occur. The nomination period for successor candidates begins Friday, August 7. Nomination petitions are available from the Town Clerk and completed nominating petitions must be submitted to the Town Clerk 30 days before the election date, which is still to be determined.
The complete Recall Petition will be available online for review at www.tosv.com, and nomination petition forms can be picked up at Town Hall beginning on August 7.
