Snowmass Village, Colo. - June 6, 2017 - On Friday, June 2nd, approximately 100 volunteers spent the morning spring cleaning and keeping Snowmass Village beautiful. Brush Creek Road, Carriage Way, the main Village Parking Lots, Brush Creek Trail, various trail heads, and Town Park were some of the main areas volunteers swept and cleaned, but that's not all they did. In addition to picking up trash around the Village, volunteers also replaced a portion of the Melton Trail retaining wall using reclaimed lumber. The new lumber was salvaged from the Snowmass Village Recreation Center, and it was used to replace the old timbers that lined the trail.
After the work was done, volunteers were rewarded with lunch, prizes, and fun. Lunch was served to 95 people by the Mountain Bayou, and excellent prizes donated by businesses throughout the community were handed out. The Town's Environmental Advisory Board also handed out swag and educational items, as well as coordinated an electric vehicle ride and drive event. However, it was a rewarding day for participants even without the perks.
"Attending today made me commit to attending again next year. It is a fun day with a great sense of connecting to the community, and I think there is also a very real feeling of making a difference in our spectacular town!" Debbie Shore, Environmental Advisory Board chair and community member.
