Thank You Mayor Markey ButlerTown's First Female Mayor Leaves Legacy of Service and Leadership for Snowmass Village While a new Mayor and Town Council are just beginning their terms, another is coming to an end. Markey Butler, who was term-limited as Mayor in 2020, has concluded her time on the Town Council. She was first elected to the Town Council in 2008, and then elected as Mayor in 2014. It was the first time a female was elected to the position of Mayor in Snowmass Village. Markey continued her leadership in the position through 2020, after being re-elected two more times in 2016 and 2018. Prior to being elected to the Town Council, she served four years on the Town's Planning Commission from 2004 - 2008.
During those years of service as a Town official, she has overseen some major changes and development in the Town. More recently, she has helped the Town and community navigate the challenges of COVID-19. Because of this expertise and her role on the Pitkin County Board of Health, her leadership will continue. Markey has agreed to remain as Chair of the Board of Health, and her service to Snowmass Village will continue in that capacity. Please help us in congratulating and thanking Markey Butler for all of her service - past, present and future.
