Burnt Mtn. Closure In Place

Burnt Mtn. Trail Closures In Place

Most of the Burnt Mountain area, Two Creeks to West Buttermilk, will be under a closure April 25th - June 21st. Trails in the area include the following:
  • Tom Blake
  • Anaerobic Nightmare
  • Sequel/Government Trail #1980 (closes May 15)
  • View the Closure Map for details.
This annual closure is put in place to prevent disturbances during elk calving, when cow elk need to forage and nurse without being startled or disrupted. But don't worry, this doesn't mean you have to wait until June 21st to break out your bike or go for a hike.

There are plenty of other trails in the Snowmass Area for you to take advantage of this spring, including the following:

Bears are back

Bears are Back

Snowmass Village is in prime bear habitat, and limiting human-bear conflicts depends on you and your diligence in properly securing your garbage and other food sources. A bear's life depends on it, and it's the law. To learn more about bears, the wildlife ordinance, and what to do if you see a bear, visit our Animal Services website.
