Bridge Closure Approaches

Grand Avenue Bridge Closes August 14th

The Grand Avenue Bridge (GAB) project is the largest infrastructure project on the Western Slope in 25 years. Now in phase three of this five-phase project, crews are working to replace the more than five-decade-old traffic bridge in Glenwood Springs. On Monday, August 14th, phase 4 begins and the bridge will be closed for approximately 95 calendar days.

Traveling through Glenwood is expected to be significantly impacted as all traffic will be diverted to West Glenwood with one lane traffic detours.

Tips:
  • Avoid peak commuter times, if possible: 6:30am - 9:00am & 3:30pm - 6:30pm
  • Leave early. Plan on 15 min. to 1 hour delays.
  • Be part of the solution and reduce traffic. Ride the bus, carpool, and drive less.
  • Know the detour. Find a detour map online.
  • Stay up to date. Details, notices, and alerts will be posted on the project website.

New EV Station

New EV Charging Station Now Open

3rd Station Offers EV Option Closer to Lodging

The Town of Snowmass Village and the Aspen Skiing Company have finished installing a new Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station in Village Parking Lot #3. A total of three charging stations are now available in Snowmass Village, including the Town-owned station at Town Park and the station provided by the Viceroy Hotel. This new station is intended to complement the other stations and provide residents and lodging guests staying in the upper village with an easy option to charge their EV's, free of charge.

The station itself was provided as a donation by the Aspen Skiing Company. The installation, maintenance, and utility costs of the station is being provided by the Town of Snowmass Village in continued support of our environmental sustainability goals. Please be courteous, and do not occupy the stalls if you are not actively charging an EV.

Bears

Be Bear Aware

Protect Yourself and Bears

A dry start to the summer has resulted in a shortage of natural food sources for bears, leaving them to venture into unusual places in search for food. According to the Snowmass Village Police Department, this year has seen an increase in bear activity, and the Animal Service division has been responding to approximately 2 to 3 calls each day for bear-related incidents. Animal Services does their best to keep both the community and bears safe by reducing human-bear conflicts, but they need your help.

Snowmass Village is in prime black bear habitat, and we rely on the community to keep human-bear conflicts to a minimum. You can help by securing all food sources, including garbage, bird feeders, and food inside your home or vehicle. Here are a few resources that will help you get started in Bear Awareness:To report a bear sighting, call Snowmass Village Animal Services at 923-5330. The information you provide is used to track their movement and behavior, and it will help keep them alive. Trapping, relocating, or euthanasia is only used as a last resort when a safety concern exists, as determined by the Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife.
Vintage Car Race

Vintage Car Race

Exciting New Event Coming to Snowmass Village

On September 14th, 60 vintage race cars from the 60's and 70's will gather in Snowmass Village to participate in the first automotive race in 19 years to occur on Town streets.

The race course will consist of a loop up Carriage Way and down Brush Creek Road. All residents, employees and guests should be prepared and be sure to catch the action. Prime opportunities to watch the race will be throughout the upper village, including Carriage Way and from the Town Hall parking lot hill.

Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing is a non-profit club made up of racing enthusiasts that hold exhibition racing events throughout the year, and they do it for the love of the cars. There are no prizes offered, and this in not considered a competitive event. "The Police and Fire Departments are working closely with the organizers to ensure the safest possible race course while providing the most exciting viewer experience," said Police Chief Brian Olson. Participants will race in 20 minute sessions in groups of 15 - 20 cars. The first series will begin at 9:00 am in the upper village.
