TOSV Snow Removal

52" of Snow Plowed in February

Snow totals played catch-up in February

After a slow start to the season, the Town's Road Division and snow plows were busy this month. The Town has now recorded at total of 115 inches of "plowable" snow on Town roads this winter, up from just 63.5" through January. For comparison, that isn't anywhere near our record of 214" of plowable snow in 1992 - 1993, but it also already exceeds our driest year of 88.5" in the winter of 2011 - 2012.

While we all hope it continues to snow, make sure you thank those who are working hard off of the mountain to keep us moving safely, including Village Shuttle drivers, police officers, and our Road Division staff. The Town’s fleet of snow removal equipment is readied and dispatched as soon as snow is in the forecast. The Road Division crew consists of six operators who are scheduled to cover shifts 5:30am to 10:30pm, seven days a week.

Snow removal typically begins in the early hours of the morning, and it takes place in three tiers of priorities. First, operators plow and spot sand major arterial roadways, including: Brush Creek Road, Owl Creek Road, Highline Road, and Carriage Way. Second, major collector streets, such as Wood Road and Faraway Road, are plowed. Lastly, crews begin clearing residential streets and parking lots. Not all residential streets can be plowed at the same time, however, and according to the Town’s Snow Removal Plan, the road crews try to hit the streets that need them the most first.

Welcome to Town

It's a Sign

Famous Town "total" sign is back

The Town finished installing a new version of the "total" sign near the entryway on Brush Creek Road earlier this week. Just like the previous version of the sign, it is sure to turn heads. The new sign adds up the total population, elevation, and the year the Town was incorporated, but this time we decided to add our furry friends to the total. All registered dogs were included, and the total now adds up to 13,460. We apologize if you're more of a cat person.

The Town received several requests to replace the total sign when it was temporarily taken down for the roundabout project. It even made Denver news when a local community member pointed out it was missing.

Although we don't expect anyone to understand the sign, we hope you enjoy it. Consider it our little inside joke.
