Vintage Car Race

Vintage Car Racing Returns

2nd Annual Vintage Car Race Begins Sept. 16th

For the second consecutive year, the sights and sounds of high-octane racing come alive on the streets of Snowmass Village with The Aspen Snowmass Vintage Car Race. Watch as vintage Corvette’s, BMW’s, Porsches, Mustangs, and formula race cars from the 1960’s and 1970’s, fly by during this exhilarating event Sunday, September 16th - Monday, September 17th.

The two days of vintage racing will also pair nicely with the Snowmass Wine Festival and Motoring Classic at Town Park on Saturday, September 15th.

Road Closures, Transit, & Traffic Impacts

Similar to last year, the race course will require the closure of upper Brush Creek Road and Carriage Way on Sunday, 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Monday, 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. Traffic will only be able to access the upper portions of the Village in between the 20 - 30 minute race sessions. The RFTA and Village Shuttle bus depots at the Snowmass Mall will be closed during the event, and buses will only be operating out of the Transit Center. If you live or work in the area, we recommend parking in alternative locations, coordinating deliveries accordingly, or just staying put to watch this exciting event. Town Library

Town Hall Library

Library resources are closer than you think

Did you know there is a small community library with books, a public computer, a printer, and free wifi in Snowmass Village Town Hall?

The Pitkin County Library maintains a small library with honor books on the 2nd floor of Town Hall, and it is open to the general public Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Stop by and select any book you like, and bring it back when you're finished. If you can't find a book you like, the library will also drop off books at the Snowmass Village Recreation Center. A drop box to return borrowed books is available at the Snowmass Center.

The Town Hall library is intended for individual research and reading purposes only. We ask that you respect those working in Town Hall, and don't abuse the facility by using it as a meeting or lunch room. Happy reading!

Bears in Car

Bear Awareness

Bears now out and feeding 20 hours a day

Just like everyone else, black bears are getting ready for winter. For bears, that means feeding 20 hours per day and packing on enough calories to prepare for hibernation. Snowmass Village is in prime black bear habitat, and bears will venture into populated areas in search of food. Although less human-bear conflicts are anticipated this year, residents and guests should stay diligent about securing their garbage, food, homes, and vehicles during this time. It could save a bear's life.

Bear Aware Tips:
  • Use wildlife resistant garbage containers, and keep them in a secured area until trash day.
  • Keep all pet food within your home or in a secure container, and feed pets inside.
  • Do not use bird-feeders in the summer or fall.
  • Thoroughly clean barbecue grills after each use.
  • Avoid the use of citronella and scented candles, which can attract bears.
  • Keep windows and doors locked.
  • Never feed wildlife, of any type.
