Winter Driving Tips

Be prepared and be safe during winter conditions

The Town is gearing up for winter, and our fleet of snow plowing equipment is ready for snowfall. Are you? To be prepared for winter driving conditions, the Snowmass Village Police Department and Public Works crews offer the following recommendations:

Winter Driving Tips:

  • Make sure your vehicle is equipped with adequate snow tires.
  • Keep your ice scraper handy in the winter. Thoroughly clean snow and ice from your windshield, windows, mirrors, and lights before driving.
  • Make sure you have plenty of de-icer windshield wiper fluid.
  • Drive carefully when icy conditions are present.
    • Approach intersections slowly, and double check for traffic and pedestrians before pulling out into an intersection or roadway.
    • Never crowd the plow. Give them space to work.
    • Don’t tailgate other vehicles. Allow for plenty of space between vehicles in case traffic slows or comes to a stop.
  • You can also catch a ride with the Village Shuttle. Drivers work hard to keep shuttles running during snow storms. And... It's free!

woodbridge closure

Woodbridge Maintenance Underway

Bridge Closed Until November 30th

Repairs to the Woodbridge are underway, and the project is progressing as scheduled. Beginning next week (week of Nov. 5th), you can expect to see an increase in construction activity and progress as construction crews will begin erecting scaffolding around the bridge. The scaffolding structure will be put in place to support the bridge while key components are removed and replaced.

No major impacts or delays to the roadways are anticipated, but some brief closures may be necessary as construction crews unload and assemble the scaffolding material. The bridge will be closed to pedestrian and bike traffic for the duration of the project. The safest detour route is the Melton Ranch and Brush Creek trails to the Brush Creek Roundabout crosswalk. You can find a map of this detour route by following the link below.

The project overall is on schedule to be completed by December 7th, and a majority of the repairs are expected to be completed by the end of November. The bridge will be re-opened as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.
