During a regular meeting on October 2, the Town Council adopted [2023] Ordinances 7 & 10, updating the Town’s leash laws, and creating mandatory leash zones.
Ordinance 2023-7 updates existing code language mandating that dogs must be on a leash in areas accessible to the public, to permit dogs to be off leash within the Town so long as the dog is within control of the dog owner by other means; and designating areas where all dogs must be leashed.
Ordinance 2023-10 establishes those mandatory leash zones. The newly established mandatory leash zones will be in the following locations:
- Rim Trail Area
- Base Village Area
- Village Mall Area
- Snowmass Center Area
- Fanny Hill Area
- Elk Camp Restaurant Recreation Area
HOAs may enact more restrictive leash requirements than required by Town Code.
